Two-and-a-half years later, Street Fighter 5 gets loot boxes

Added: 02.07.2018 3:42 | 1001 views | 0 comments

On 25th June Street Fighter 5 gets a big new update - and part of that is the addition of loot boxes.
The loot boxes have to do with Survival Mode and a new system called Fighting Chance. Menat, one of the playable characters, has opened up a shop to tell you your fortune. Spend 500 Fight Money, the in-game currency, and you get a Fantasy Fortune Reading, which Menat helps you decipher. These readings are the loot box: they contain multiple items, including some exclusive to Fighting Chance.
Items include Battle Goods, which increase your chance of completing Survival Mode, new colours only available from Fantasy Fortune Readings, classic pieces of Street Fighter art from across the series, and, to the consternation of the Street Fighter community, rare costumes only available via Fantasy Fortune Readings.

Getting hot and bothered with Salary Man Escape

I've noticed a lot of requests for more VR coverage on Eurogamer lately and, as a VR enthusiast myself, I can sympathise. Granted, there isn't a huge audience for this stuff, but some of the games are really interesting. Earlier this year I did try my hand at a in a bid to shine a spotlight on the field, but as the year's gaming calendar got busier I found it difficult to balance those reviews with my actual job as a video producer.
I'm not ready to give up just yet, though - so welcome to a new series that I'm calling Ian's VR Corner! Each week, I'll be doing a Let's Play on our of a new or interesting PSVR game. I'll be playing through a short portion in my own 'unique' way in order to give you an idea of whether or not it's worth your money.
Last week I inserted my face into the mysterious detective game , but VR Corner officially started this week when I donned my PSVR headset on one of the hottest days of the year to try out a curious puzzle game called Salary Man Escape.

Fortnite’s rocket launched, and it cracked space-time

Added: 01.07.2018 5:21 | 875 views | 0 comments

The countdown finally reached zero, and the rocket that’s been patiently waiting in Fortnite’s enemy lair launched yesterday at 13:30 EST. Players gathered to watch, and for a moment, it looked like a scene from Cape Canaveral, where shuttles would blast off on orbital missions.
The launch was visible from most of the island, but it was also broadcast on in-game television screens, reinforcing that connection to Moonshot and giving the event a certain gravitas. The rocket climbed into the night sky, and the gathered players (generally) looked on peacefully.
But then things got strange. The rocket’s first stage burned out its fuel and detached, tumbling back to Earth (or wherever Fortnite is supposed to take place) and landing somewhere in Anarchy Acres. After a moment’s pause, the second stage ignited, and the rocket resumed its ascent, moving faster until it finally disappeared out of sight, leaving only a contrail.
Fortnite is the only one with hyperspace rockets, but ?
The rocket - or something like it - then appeared to fall back to terra firma, its nose pointed at the ground as four laser beams focused in on Tilted Towers. Once all four had lined up, the rocket’s third engine stage ignited and it hurtled toward its target - only to disappear into a shimmering crack in reality itself.
Another crack opened, this time over Moisty Mires, and the rocket emerged, flying horizontally across the landscape and again disappearing into a crack in the fabric of reality. Another crack opened near Loot Lake, and the rocket burst through at high speed, this time headed upwards. It hurtled back into the night sky, only to disappear again as it smashed a massive crack in… reality itself, apparently.
