Cyberpunk 2077 is better as first-person than third-person

One of the more surprising stories to come out of E3 2018 was the news that CD Projekt Red's heavily anticipated Cyberpunk 2077 will be a first-person RPG, not the third-person RPG that fans of The Witcher series expected.
If you’re a fan of The Witcher 3 this is a departure from the third-person action style you’ve seen and I can understand an initial disappointment but if you’re a fan of RPGs as a whole, there have been plenty of incredible, highly acclaimed first-person RPGs that you probably already enjoy.
Dishonored, Deus Ex, Bioshock are each exceptional examples of how the perspective fits the mechanics of an RPG and immersive sims. This is a storied genre that Cyberpunk 2077 appears to be learning from while providing its own unique innovations.
We still don't know the but we've good reason to suspect it might be .
The developers revealed that the reason for this CD Projekt Red says this change was to and allow players to immerse themselves within the character. Cyberpunk 2077’s rich beauty is definitely one of its most enticing attributes, and being able to see it up close instead of over-the-shoulder will only make the eye-bleeding fidelity that much sweeter.
In tone, Cyberpunk 2077’s nearest neighbour is clearly Deus Ex, specifically for its city base, augmentations and overwhelming corporate oppression.
| Is Beyond Good and Evil 2 more ambitious than Star Citizen?

Red Bull Games Australia takes an in-depth look at Beyond Good and Evil 2 from a behind closed doors session at this year's E3 and throws in some comparison to another major space title full of similar ambition in Star Citizen and writes:
"Theres an impressive video that was released a while ago showcasing the true geometry and real-time finesse required to understand, and master, Star Citizen, of a planetside entry, ship-landing and then third-person exit into a fully populated interior. And theres no question this was an impressive display of raw design and technology. But the content we saw behind closed doors at this years E3 for Beyond Good and Evil 2 easily trumped that. Largely because Beyond Good and Evil 2 isnt taking its space-faring overly seriously. Theirs is an action-RPG sci-fi future where rules can be written on-the-fly to accommodate artistic vision and fun gameplay..."

| Assassin's Creed Odyssey's history is too good to let lore get in the way

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is looking like even less of an Assassin’s Creed game than last year’s Origins, which was already a marked departure from the franchise formula, imbuing the series with trendy RPG elements.
Odyssey is set prior to the founding of the Assassin Order, and while in the lore there is a little evidence of early assassins getting up to no good, it looks like the character you choose won’t wear the hood or have a hidden blade, instead carrying the Spear of Leonidas, a Piece of Eden with as-of-yet unconfirmed powers.
If all this is indicative of anything, it’s that Assassin’s Creed is now more focused on historical storytelling than sticking to its own tried and tested formula. The E3 showcase boasted vignettes of gorgeous Greek architecture, nuanced action-RPG combat, and huge battles with multiple enemies, a far cry from the quiet subterfuge of the original game.
We already know and it's looking like it will join our list .
What excited me most about Odyssey was that Ubisoft has shifted its focus to creating a lived-in historical slice, rather than trying to shoehorn the (let’s be honest) totally wild and contrived story of Abstergo into a period that doesn’t need any extra flavour to be interesting. Ancient Greece laid the foundation for our modern societal values with its progressive approach to sexuality and iconic philosophy and mythology.
Whether it’s tragedy or comedy, we cannot escape the legacy of its influence on the stories we consume and share with one another even today. Choosing to focus on recreating that is a brilliant pivot, as Ubisoft’s previous approach only worked to undermine what they’re best at.
Revolutionary America was an instantly compelling setting, but Assassin’s Creed III was ultimately dragged down by the need to connect everything to Desmond Miles and the First Civilization.

Ben West at GameCloud writes: "While Im usually a fan of the monster-catching genre and greatly enjoy anything Lovecraftian, The Lost Child fails to hit a lot of the key points that makes both of these genres fun. Add to this a standard storyline, repetitive combat and a pointless overworld, and youve got a game thats ultimately very hard to recommend spending time on. With many exciting RPGs coming up in the near future, only those in desperate need of some monster catching or dungeon delving should look here."
