After first being announced back in 2013, but then getting stuck in production hell, Microsoft's live-action big budget Halo TV series is finally happening! However, instead of legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg being in charge, it's the still potent duo of Rupert Wyatt and Kyle Killen.
The Independent is a newspaper in the UK with a loyal following and it seems that its web site is now a full PWA (Progressive Web Application), making it perfect for use under Windows 10 Mobile, as shown below. If you want it on your Start screen then you can pin it or package it in , of course. Or wait until Microsoft itself packages it in the Store.
Last week at E3 2018, Polygon spoke with Microsoft Studios head Matt Booty about the status of the destruction mode, which the company hasnt shown since that 2015 demo. Booty confirmed the destruction-heavy online multiplayer mode remains in development. It is still part of [Crackdown 3], said Booty. Were not showing a lot of details about that here. Well have more to show as the year goes on.
The Square Enix E3 show consisted of a thirty minute pre-recorded segment instead of the live spectacles that we have witnessed from EA, Microsoft and Bethesda. They kicked off showing more gameplay footage of the forthcoming Shadow Of The Tomb Raider, with Lara taking the role of a killing machine as she stalks her enemies in an overgrown jungle. There were also re-caps of a few of the games featured in yesterday's Xbox show, with Just Cause 4, Kingdom Hearts 3, Captain Spirit and Nier Automata all featuring, however further information was very scant. The other games that were featured in very quick trailers were three Final Fantasy XIV Online monikered titles - Stormblood: Final Fantasy XIV Online, Under the Moonlight and Final Fantasy XIV Online X Monster Hunter World (coming in Summer 2018). We then moved onto Dragon Quest XI - Echoes of an Elusive Age followed by a new Platinum Games title called Babylon's Fall which is launching in 2019 on PS4 and Steam. Then we saw Octopath Traveller on the Nintendo Switch. Finally we saw a trailer for The Quiet Man which is coming to PS4 and Steam. This was completely different to everything else seen as it started as a CGI trailer that seamlessly moved into gameplay footage. More footage of this to come in August. Overall, this felt like a very rushed and thrown together thirty minutes, that didn't give us any further details on games that we hadn't seen before. With its stunning visuals, the Xbox One X is the closest thing to a good PC gaming experience in console form. But is it worth a £100 upgrade? Four years after the launch of the original machine, Microsoft’s Xbox One family is now finally complete. Although the Xbox One X has been hailed as the most powerful console ever made, it very much remains an Xbox One derivative, running all the same games and working with all the accessories with no Xbox One X exclusives. What you get is improved audio-visual performance – rather like the difference between playing a PC game on a regular mid-range home computer versus a high-end gaming monster. Greater power hasn’t meant a giant form factor though – this might be one of the least conspicuous consoles in history. Reverting to black after the refreshing “robot white” colouring of the Xbox One S, it’s a truly minimalist slab of modern consumer electronics design taking up less space than any previous Xbox iteration. Microsoft claims to have employed cutting-edge engineering techniques to achieve its sleek form factor, including a vapour chamber cooling system, which has led to an impressively quiet machine. During gameplay, there’s little more than a gentle hum coming from the unit – comparing well with the PlayStation 4 Pro and previous Xbox machines. Pros: Native 4K gaming, cutting edge components, quiet running, UHD Blu-ray player Cons: Comparatively expensive, UI remains cumbersome, limited functionality for 1080p TVs
