The Crew 2 Review - Cruisin' USA | AusGamers

Added: 03.07.2018 9:39 | 565 views | 0 comments

Initial impressions that come from playing Ubisofts open-world racer, The Crew 2, are mostly positive. Although a completely different genre one cant help but be reminded of Watch Dogs 2, where a previously serious-in-tone title was injected with a sense of fun and freedom. For The Crew 2 this means doing away with the undercover cop infiltrating a racing crew for reasons and revenge in lieu of becoming a world renown social media racer. Silly, but with hundreds of thousands of followers comes the ability to switch between a large rimmed street racer to a plane to a speed boat and even a hovercraft. And race.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey's history is too good to let lore get in the way

Added: 03.07.2018 8:12 | 1118 views | 0 comments

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is looking like even less of an Assassin’s Creed game than last year’s Origins, which was already a marked departure from the franchise formula, imbuing the series with trendy RPG elements.
Odyssey is set prior to the founding of the Assassin Order, and while in the lore there is a little evidence of early assassins getting up to no good, it looks like the character you choose won’t wear the hood or have a hidden blade, instead carrying the Spear of Leonidas, a Piece of Eden with as-of-yet unconfirmed powers.
If all this is indicative of anything, it’s that Assassin’s Creed is now more focused on historical storytelling than sticking to its own tried and tested formula. The E3 showcase boasted vignettes of gorgeous Greek architecture, nuanced action-RPG combat, and huge battles with multiple enemies, a far cry from the quiet subterfuge of the original game.
We already know and it's looking like it will join our list .
What excited me most about Odyssey was that Ubisoft has shifted its focus to creating a lived-in historical slice, rather than trying to shoehorn the (let’s be honest) totally wild and contrived story of Abstergo into a period that doesn’t need any extra flavour to be interesting. Ancient Greece laid the foundation for our modern societal values with its progressive approach to sexuality and iconic philosophy and mythology. assassins creed odyssey history
Whether it’s tragedy or comedy, we cannot escape the legacy of its influence on the stories we consume and share with one another even today. Choosing to focus on recreating that is a brilliant pivot, as Ubisoft’s previous approach only worked to undermine what they’re best at.
Revolutionary America was an instantly compelling setting, but Assassin’s Creed III was ultimately dragged down by the need to connect everything to Desmond Miles and the First Civilization.

Exploring The Depths Of Starlink: Battle For Atlas

Added: 02.07.2018 19:38 | 1191 views | 0 comments

It's easy to think of Starlink: Battle for Atlas as a late-comer to the already-dead toys-to-life market, but thankfully the game itself has more going for it than just the plastic ship you attach to your controller.

EXPLORING THE SOLAR SYSTEM

The game has a complete solar system of planets to explore, including the option to use your hyperdrive to fly between them. Although they weren't in the demo that I played, you'll also encounter random ships and ports in your travels – including some who are spoiling for a fight.
Naturally planets have missions, involving both combat as well as some puzzles, and there are different factions to take missions from in order to upgrade space stations. There's also loot to find as you explore worlds.
The long and short of it is that Ubisoft Toronto has built out an entire solar system, and there should be no shortage of things to do in it.

A DEEPER EXPERIENCE

Starlink features different ships, pilots, and weapons that you attach to your controller. The weapons constitute the most obvious changes, such as attaching a flamethrower or ice cannon to your wing.
However, the game digs deeper into the options pool. Pilots have their own special attacks (like a giant, rechargable large area blast or an orbital strike) and their stats and abilities can be upgraded via skill points. Moreover, the wings themselves have their own stats, denoting them as more suited to speed or defense. There are also equipment upgrades to find on worlds.
During combat you can hot swap weapons (the game automatically pauses), which is very useful if you need more of a long-range attack, for instance, or you just prefer the Gatling gun.

SUB-ATMOSPHERIC COMBAT

Although the demo didn't feature aerial dogfights, there were sequences where your ship was effectively grounded due to corruption fields during a mission. This meant that the ship hovered feet above the ground while ground-based enemies attacked.
This was the weakest part of the demo, as scuttling above the ground in what is otherwise an airborne ship doesn't feel satisfying because you're neither rooted to the ground nor free to fly in the skies.
Pressing Y brings up a temporary front-facing shield, and you can also hop pressing the A button and dodge roll to the left or right, giving you some mobility.
The demo ended with a land-based crab boss, and although my ship was free to take to the skies again for this encounter since I destroyed some corruption structures earlier, the best way to defeat the large boss was, unfortunately, to return to the ground.

Resident Evil 2 was the best game of E3 2018, according to the Game Critic Awards

Added: 02.07.2018 12:33 | 1008 views | 0 comments

Update, July 2: The Game Critics Awards: Best of E3 2018 winners have been revealed.
Every year, E3 presents the Games Critics Awards to recognize the best upcoming titles showcased at the event, and following the announcement of 2018’s nominees the panel's winning selections have been revealed. Selected by a panel of 51 publications worldwide - including your friends at PCGamesN - the awards recognize the best games playable at E3.
This year's best of show winner is the delectably gruesome Resident Evil 2 remake. The best PC game was named as Anthem. PC naturally did well in the strategy category, with the computer-exclusive Total War: Three Kingdoms named the best title in the genre.
Stay current with these titles and many more by following our list of the biggest .
There are plenty of multi-platform winners coming to PC as well. Read on for the full list of nominees, with the winners highlighted in bold.
It's important to distinguish that these games had to be playable by voting publications in order to qualify for nominations. That disqualifies major titles like Cyberpunk 2077, Remedy’s Control, Fallout 76, and quite a few more. These games are still eligible for Special Commendations in graphics, sound, and innovation - and Cyberpunk happened to take several such awards. resident evil 2 game critic awards best of e3 2018
Anthem led the nominees with picks in five categories and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice followed with four - both of them qualifying for Best of Show among other honours.
There are 55 PC titles among the nominees, seven more than last year. That puts our preferred platform between the major consoles, with PlayStation 4 titles enjoying 58 nominations and Xbox One games getting 51. Ubisoft leads publisher nominations with 11 titles selected, and EA ties Sony Interactive Entertainment in second place with 10 nominations.

DSOGaming writes: "Ubisoft has just released The Crew 2 on the PC. The Crew 2 is a new open-world online game in which players can drive cars, powerboats, and fly planes. Whats really cool about The Crew 2 though is that players can shift from one vehicle to another with just a push of a button using the Fast Fav feature and experience the full potential of the games huge and seamless open world. As such, its now time to benchmark the game and see how it performs on the PC platform."
